Friday with Heidi: A little bit of nostalgia…
What a gorgeous day!
I know we Brits talk about the weather a lot, but I’ve discovered in lockdown it’s one thing that is really on the top of the list of conversation topics!
Today it is bloomin’ lush!
I absolutely love the vibrancy of the blue and the green right now. It’s just lovely.
This is the view I see as I run our Virtually There: Fit Camp sessions each day. I at least feel a little bit connected to the outside even though I am on my own, in my lounge.
It’s Thursday afternoon and today, on the way back from a shopping trip, I was driving past Bearwood Recreation Ground in Winnersh.
Most of you will know Bearwood Rec, but if you don’t – it’s the venue that we do most of our camps from. It’s a public park, with a basketball court at one end we use every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and surrounded by lots of trees and grass. It’s where Fit Camp has been the longest over the years and it feels a little bit like Fit Camp’s home turf.
I decided to stop off and take a look at the old place! I’ve not been there since Sunday Wake Up! on March 22nd when we ran our last (socially distanced) session.
I got a bit nostalgic!
I did a Facebook live to our Members Page and mused on what I thought would happen in the next few days, weeks and months. I can’t see me being allowed to run group gatherings for exercise in a hurry. I also can’t see that I’ll be dropping our online sessions either. Once we know what the future holds I can see that a hybrid version of Fit Camp will emerge – and we’ll shuffle into a new normal, that allows some freedom to roam and some safety at home.
I am in no great hurry for things to change much.
I like being at home. I like my view out the back. I like that I can be away from crowds and rush and bustle.
I am not so keen on not being able to get to wilder parts of the country like beaches and hills and mountains.
Not seeing my daughters, Mum, Dad, sister and baby niece.
And not being able to mooch…I do like to mooch.
What are you loving and loathing?
What do you want to keep and kick out?
And where is a place that if you went there you’d feel a little nostalgic?
I’d love to hear from you!
What ever you are doing I wish you a very nice extended Bank Holiday weekend.

Feedback from our Virtually There sessions
“In April I have lost a total of 20cm! That’s all down to Fit Camp in lockdown, it’s really made a difference to me!”
“it’s definitely paying off doing more Fit Camps – I’m doing full press ups now which I have never done before and it’s making my alternate day runs stronger too!”
” I am also grateful not to have to exercise in public, but in the privacy of home, so, again a positive.”
“I bloody loved this morning – thank you Heidi.”
