Friday with Heidi: The rhythm method..
Week four from the Virtually There world of FastTrack Fit Camp.
How are you?
I mean really.
How ARE you?
Have you found a way through this weird and wonderful start to our year?
This week I noticed that what seemed like an excitement at first amongst people has now morphed into a sense of finding some normality in this new era.
Whilst some of our clients were very quick to adopt our new Virtually There timetable we’ve had others who’ve needed a little time to find their feet and find what they need to survive these weeks.
From observations and chats with our Metabolic Balance and Fit Camp clients I’ve noticed that those who seem most content or coping the best have the following practices in place to help them, which creates a rhythm for them to live by.
Set a morning routine. Choose something or several things that sets the day off right and the same way each day.
- It might be getting up at the same time each morning.
- Doing a workout (our 7am classes are the most popular right now).
- Get showered and dressed. Whilst this may seem blindingly obvious, those who are unshowered and working in their PJs seem to me to be the ones with more chaotic thoughts right now.
- Eat a good breakfast whilst sat down and enjoyed.
- Take time to be mindful or thoughtful or quiet. Whatever you want to call it, taking quiet time each day is well worth the effort.
Create a midday rhythm. Set something in place for the middle of the day.
- Stopping to make and eat lunch as a family.
- Choosing to let calls and emails wait for an hour.
- Step outside. Take a coffee outside, have lunch in the garden.
- Put washing in, take washing out, take food out of the freezer for dinner, make a call.
- Listen to an audio book for 30 minutes.
- Take advantage of your daily outdoor exercise.
Alongside all this it can be useful to set one task you need to do each day. Whether it’s tidy the cupboard under the stairs or renew the contents insurance policy or descale the kettle.
Take time to do something on your own each day if you live in a family or to connect with others if you live on your own.
Take time to find something to laugh at. It might be a clip on YouTube, a joke with your kids or a programme on television. When we’re laughing the body cannot physically be in a state of stress. So find something to laugh about.
And remember that this won’t last forever. It may feel like it. It may feel completely overwhelming and outside of our control, but it will pass and we will have a new ordinary to adjust to again soon.
If you’re keen to start your own rhythm each day and each week do come and try us out.
Every Sunday during lockdown I am running a free on-line Sunday Wake Up! session at 9am. I have 99 spaces available to people from all over the world who want to connect in. If you know someone, somewhere who you’d like to virtually work out with then let them know about this too. Last week we had over 70 log ins join us!
To join me you need to go to our membership site and sign up for our free Sunday Wake Up! membership – you can do this here -> https://goteamup.com/p/511340-fasttrack-fit-camp-ltd/memberships/79058/
Once you’ve done that each and every time you want to register for a Sunday session you go to the calendar here -> https://goteamup.com/p/511340-fasttrack-fit-camp-ltd/ and book your place.
That’s it.
Join in the zoom call 5-7 minutes ahead of time with a mat or something to lie on, some water and your workout clobber and I’ll take you through a session to get you moving and feeling pleased that you made the effort to get up and get out of bed!
Have a great week! Let me know what rhythm you’ve added to your daily and weekly schedule.
