Friday with Heidi: Why do you do it?
Hello end of January!
I know, from listening to some of our campers, that for some of you this month has dragged somewhat. If that’s you I hope you can take comfort from the fact that it’s February tomorrow?!
It’s whizzed by for us here at Fit Camp HQ and it seems that every weekend has been filled with some fabulous event, training or client facing meeting that has seen the month just fly by.
I’ve taken to letting that be for now and instead, taking time each day to be very, very still and very, very quiet. It’s quite the restorative break that brings out more thoughts, more creativity but more calm. It’s nice.
During this month I’ve spent a lot of time listening to and talking with our clients and people within my networking circles. It’s been an insightful opportunity to find out more about people, what their drivers are for good health, what motivates them to make the effort to change and really – why they do what they do.
From being healthy for their family, to doing the best they can to prevent familial illness, to mental health management, weight control, fun, companionship, personal achievement, to have an operation, to be a size smaller, to be able to eat what they want – the reasons have been as varied as the people. And they’re all valid and real and fascinating.
When I know why people are doing what they’re doing I can help them achieve it better.
When I know what’s driving them to put on their trainers at 05.30 three times a week it’s easier to talk to them about getting there when it’s dark and wet.
And when I can hear in their voices and see in their face the passion behind it – I want to work with them to help them achieve it in the best way possible.
At FastTrack Fit Camp it’s the same. I have the same drives for my business.
My primary focus is to help the people we have with us. To get them fit, help them get fitter. To show them what they are capable of and then some.
I also want to inspire people to be the healthiest version of themselves they chose to be. Your version of healthy may not be the same as mine. But it will work for both of us regardless because we’ll be setting our own goals for us. It will be our own ‘why we do it’.
When FastTrack Fit Camp helps more people I can give more back to our local projects through the Social Enterprise. If there was one thing that’s inspired me to do more, go for more and help more people it’s that. Helping local projects, planting more trees and collecting more trainers all floats my boat big time.
It’s human nature to want to help people who have similar likes, values and morals as you and at FastTrack Fit Camp we have a wonderful community of like minded and motivated individuals who all support each other and take support from others too. It’s bloody fab!
You may be wondering if we’re for you.
I understand that, it can feel really daunting to take a step into something new.
But I am confident that we will look after you well.
If you try to keep up we’ll slow you down.
If you need to rest, we’ll let you.
If you need an option that’s OK too.
If you’ve got to the end of January and your normal New Year couch to 5k running routine hasn’t kicked in yet or you’re still paying for Slimming World but not going anymore – please contact us.
I am offering five complimentary 45 minute appointments, worth £55, with me so you can tell me why you want to do it.
And you can help me do what I do, so that I may achieve mine.
Email Rowena at admin@fasttrack-fitcamp.co.uk and we’ll get you booked in for a face to face, Skype or ‘phone call. First five only!

FastTrack Fit Camp is an outdoor fitness business with the focus on improving people on the inside so they feel good on the outside. In 2019 FastTrack Fit Camp became a Social Enterprise in Wokingham and committed to distribute a minimum of 50% of profits back to community environmental projects each year with the goal of helping our local citizens feel good whilst being outside too.
