Friday with Heidi: Start where you are…

We’ve survived the first full week of 2020!
Go us!
Despite deciding that I’d be more controlled at what we take on at Fit Camp in 2020, Rowena and I were only saying on Wednesday that we do seem to have hit the ground sprinting!
It was impacted slightly by the landing of the first Saturday in January for our Happiest Year Yet event. I’ve run it on the first Saturday in the month since we started it 8 years ago and the 4th is pretty much as early as we’ve had it in that time. It means we’re barely through the New Year champers and into events. But it was well worth it.
We had a fantastic turnout of over 70 delegates.
I had two engaging speakers join me to talk about how we can manage our energy better, live with confidence and happiness by making small changes to our daily habits. We then finished the day with a small sample of a Tibetan Singing bowl session which was deeply calming and relaxing allowing all the thoughts from the afternoon to sink in.
I had a lovely afternoon. We’ve had some very positive feedback already and I know that many are already taking on board what they learned.
” Wow, wow, wow. All I hoped for and more – thank you all! Have restarted a gratitude journal – keeping it simple, short and instinctive so it doesn’t feel like a chore. Happy to discover my fluid intake is already good. But busy committing to more activity sessions and rewarding with massage/other healing sessions.”
“Such a brilliant afternoon of learning and inspiration! I left feeling so grounded and calm after Kathryn’s amazing sound session! Thank you all for sharing your pearls.”
Given that I obviously need to learn my lesson about taking on too much (still). I looked ahead to 2021 to see that the first Saturday in January is the 2nd of the month. I’ve already decided that we’ll not be doing the Happiest Year Yet event that day, but shifting it a week later to the 9th January 2021 and, taking it as a good opportunity to change the format and style. Watch this space!
One of the key messages from Saturday was knowing when something isn’t right.
Those signs and symptoms that we dismiss and try and brush off without thinking about what they are trying to tell us.
Things like getting moody at something that normally doesn’t bother you, restless legs, electric energy on the skin (this has been a big tell for me the past few months), crying, distraction tactics when something important needs addressing, itches, headaches, sleepy or sleeplessness, saying “what’s wrong with me?” a lot, other people saying “what’s got into you?”…
Taking time to find out what the problem is can save a whole lot of angst, frustration and unhappiness.
I accept it’s not easy to either realise it’s a thing that needs addressing. But having been through all of the above over the past 18 months I can say it’s worth tuning in and recognising where you need to put some attention and make changes.
Sometimes I’ve actively distracted myself from having to see what the problem is.
In my experience the thing never goes away. It either gets squashed down to reappear again with more energy later on or it just gets noisier.
For me the noisiness is in this electric energy that I feel in my body. I literally feel like I need to shake it off, but can’t.
At this point you need to start where you are in order to work out what you need to do.
At FastTrack Fit Camp this month we’ve already seen evidence of this with our clients who have decided to take action on their health and wellbeing by taking control.
The Metabolic Balance programme has seen a large intake of clients all ready to address how they look and feel about themselves to improve their health stats.
The health stats they see are their:
- Body fat percentage
- Body fat weight
- Visceral fat
- Metabolic Age
- Desirable Range
Seeing that your metabolic age is 15 years older than your chronological age can, for some, be the kick start they need to make changes to their ways.
For others it’s knowing that half of their weight is body fat.
And for some clients it’s knowing that the breadth of their bum is over a metre (true story!)
Given that these markers were instrumental to identifying a need to change I have opened up an opportunity for our clients to meet with me this weekend to get their stats too.
Whilst many of the places have already been taken there are currently (at the time of writing) 5 appointments left.
14.45, 15.30, 15.45, 16.15 and 16.30.
All appointments are 15 minutes and at my house in Wokingham. They are worth £15 in value but I am offering them for no charge to our members with a voluntary contribution to our Social Enterprise fund to anyone who would like to make one.
I am opening up these sessions to all readers of Friday with Heidi too now. To grab one of these last few places to find out where you stand, please click this link to access our booking software called TeamUp. You’ll need to register if you haven’t done so before and then you can reserve a space.
I have two requests please.
- Please keep your appointment or, if you have to cancel, please let me know.
- Come so that you can easily go barefoot. You can’t be weighed if you’re pregnant or with a pacemaker.
You’ll get a readout like this:
You’ll also get 15 minutes of my time to give you some practical tips on what to do to make the changes you want.
Please click this link if you wish to take advantage of this great opportunity. I’d love to meet you and see how I can help you get the changes you’d like to make this year.
Whilst we’re talking about Sunday, I’d like to remind you that we have our first charity Fit Camp of the year this Sunday at 9am. All details here, but if you are looking for a little extra for your exercise effort this year come along and give us a go at this weekly session in Winnersh.
Finally this week I thought I’d finish with some Social Enterprise news.
On the back of the Happiest Year Yet last week we donated a portion of the ticket price to a B1G1 charity that supports Indonesian women to be trained to be community health leaders, 45 of them infact.
This makes me very bloomin’ happy!
It feels like our community business can help people provide a similar service in their communities. How cool is that?
So if you were part of Saturday, thank you! I very much appreciate your commitment to us so that we can provide to others.
Have a great week!
