Friday with Heidi | Creating metabolic balance…
We’ve had a great week at Fit Camp this week.
It’s been pretty damn chilly which means that you need to move more to stay warm (my kind of workout!).
At Henley camp we’ve had it as low as -2 this week and that’s one crispy, cheeks slapped kind of cold. But despite all that we have the crew in shorts (hello Ben!) and short sleeved tee-shirts (hello Janet!) because they’re too warm to comfortably exercise otherwise.
The cold has sparked some cold conversations.
We’ve discussed the benefits of drinking cold water on increasing metabolic rate for improved fat burning.
Did you know that some research has shown that there was a very slight rise on calorie burn of about 2-3% over those who drank room temperature water for the 90 minutes following the consumption? It’s a nominal amount and probably not worth the effort, but interesting to note.
We talked about the impact of taking cold showers or open water swimming in the Scandinavian countries.
There’s more research around the benefits of ice baths and showers and alongside improved alertness, increased will power and a more robust immune response there’s also evidence that these cold water treatments can help to produce brown fat, a fat type that produces energy by burning calories. Ergo, cold water dips, plunge pools, swimming and showers can help with fat loss. Check out Wim Hof for more specific details.
However, this week I was thanked for showing someone how you can also improve your fat burning and increase your metabolism with the wonderful Metabolic Balance programme we offer at FastTrack Fit Camp.
It’s a bespoke nutritional programme designed to help clients manage and balance hormones, reduce inflammation and manage weight whether that’s weight loss, weight gain or maintenance.
I have been a coach of the programme for two years. It’s what identified that I had my own health issues with my thyroid and subsequently with the auto-immune condition Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. It’s the healthiest, quickest and most individual way you’ll find to get a practical, food based programme that simply works.
Here’s what Julie sent me this week.
To find out more about Metabolic Balance and whether it’s for you I’ll be talking a little more about it at our Happiest Year Yet event on Saturday 4 January – grab a seat and find out if it’s right for you there and then.
CLEAN, GREEN FIT CAMP | SOCIAL ENTERPRISE UPDATE
This week’s Social Enterprise update is HERE.
My morning sunrise photos are distinctly lacking at the moment. The sunrise is quite late for my walking time and I am missing out on some stunners. There was a truly fabulous one this Tuesday just gone. Here’s what I’ve got for you this week – a view last Friday of the Sandmartins Golf Club straight after a networking meeting. Quite lovely!
Have a great week! – Heidi
