And there, in the blink of an eye October has vanished.
What did you accomplish last month? Are you on track with your goals and targets?
This month we’re celebrating being in business for 10 years.
10 years ago there were no goals and targets. The main aim was to find somewhere to train people and people to train in the place we hadn’t yet found!
Over the next few weeks I’ll be looking back at the last 10 years and reflecting on what’s helped and what hasn’t. But today I want to talk about why what we offer is essential to you. Why I am still doing it 10 years on and why, in fact, it is life changing.
As a fitness instructor you get some pretty privileged information.
- We tend to be the first to know when someone is pregnant.
- We know when people are coming back after long term health issues.
- And we get to know when people are living with some health concern.
Over the last 8 weeks, I’ve experienced a very sobering reminder of this as I’ve heard from several of our current and past clients who have met with some pretty hefty medical diagnoses.
I am not of the opinion that a healthy lifestyle will completely keep all nasties at bay. There’s more to being vital than just good food and regular exercise.
Some of us are more predisposed to some conditions than others, some pull the short straw and some are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Also if you are always worrying or in an unhappy relationship, struggling with money or feeling out of alignment with your life values you’ll suffer in areas of your health no matter how much wheat-grass juice you drink and how many burpees you can knock out.
However what I am sure of is that a healthy lifestyle will help us to cope with these situations better.
Of course we’ll never know otherwise, but I’ve heard from enough clients who’ve been through the medical wringer to know that the health professionals dealing with them have said that their good health conditioning helped them to heal, cope, repair, progress and return to normality way more quickly than those who don’t have that base line.
I’ve seen it with both my parents who had their own unique medical hurdles.
In both cases they’ve been praised for their speedy recovery.
Dad is convinced it’s because he’s a war baby that was raised on allotment veggies, home-cooked food and lots of walking and biking.
I don’t doubt it.
As for our clients and friends that I’ve spoken to I know that they too have been told that their strong healthy foundations have helped them soundly.
So when I have the occasional slump and wonder whether it’s worth it, I remember my mum and dad, my clients and ex-clients and know that it’s truly is.
We’re not invincible, but we are more bounce-backable and that has to be worth making the effort to eat well, move often and be truly happy for as long as we can.
I’m planning on hanging around for a while, so rather than waiting for us to trade for another 10 years drop us a line now and see how we can help you.
