Friday with Heidi: Our big rocks this week…
Good morning!
I have a business coach who I speak with twice a month. Part of that call is setting the ‘big rocks’ for the next fortnight. The things that are front of mind and must-dos. I thought I’d share with you our four big rocks this week.
- European Masters Athletics.
- 2020 planning.
- Fido Fit Camp Weekend.
- 100 Day Fitness Litter Picking Challenge.
European Masters Athletics.
My longest serving instructor is Karen Burles. She’s been an instructor with me at Fit Camp for 9 years and works with me on Weekender events and is the other half of our 10@10 Birthday Run collaboration.
Two months ago she was selected to run in the European Masters Athletics championships in Venice in the 100m dash event. She’s ranked 4th in Europe and this is the most amazing chance to do what she loves (run) for her country.
Her heat was last night (Thursday) and I watched on her Facebook page live. I was a bundle of nerves and it looked so very like she was 2nd in her heat.
After what seemed like an eternity she found out that she is through to the final today at 18.03 UK time! She’ll be filming it through her Facebook page if you’d like to watch and see how she does! It’s a truly brilliant achievement!
2020 Planning
On Tuesday Rowena and I spent the day planning next year’s big events. I needed Rowena there to make sure that I didn’t over commit! She had one job. ‘To rein me in‘ — let’s just say she did her job 🙂
We’ve planned a selection of Fit Camp programmes, extra-curricular events like walking challenges and charity events, Weekenders, conference style events and Social Enterprise programmes to support. There will be something for everyone.
Fido Fit Camp Weekend
Today I am heading to Winchester with Philippa, my dog-loving-dog-walking-dog-Goddess extraordinaire, to run our first (and last!) Fido Fit Camp Weekend. We are looking forward to welcoming 9 guests and 12 dogs for a weekend of a flexible and furry agenda. I know that our guests are very excited and so not too much pressure to deliver! We’ve agreed to have a very loose and fluid agenda as we don’t know how this is going to work! We’re not getting precious about timetables this weekend.
I am the only person on the event who doesn’t have a dog (has never had one actually) and so expect photos of me covered in fluff and slobber as I become a beacon for all things four legged.
Next week’s FWH will update you fully on this!
100 Day Fitness Litter Picking Challenge
Our annual Fitness Challenge is back for an 8th year and I’ve pimped it! To tie in with what we’re doing within the community I am adding in a litter picking element to this this year.
The guidelines are simple. From 23 September walk for 20-30 minutes each day for your health, but whilst you are out, pick up any immediately visible rubbish on your way.
What this isn’t is an excuse to get into ditches and hedgerows. It’s litter picking at it’s most simple. You see a Red Bull can on your walk? Pick it up, take it home and pop into your recycling.
You see a Costa cup rolling around the grass next to the pavement, you scoop it up and place it in the next bin you see.
The primary goal is to move each day, the secondary goal is to pick up litter where you see it.
I know that this will make a huge difference to both you and your community. I do hope that you’ll join us. You can do so HERE.
So as you can see I may have needed to be reined in a bit earlier! But this is an exciting week. We’re all so excited for what Karen has achieved and what she can deliver this evening.
Her tag line is ‘believe to achieve’ – we’re witnessing it in action!
Clean, Green Fit Camp | Social Enterprise Update
Have a fabulous weekend! Check for where you need to rein in and where you can be fluid. We all need life to ebb and flow, so let it.
If it helps to think of your own big rocks too, use it! It’s a great way to focus.
Here’s my favourite sunrise picture from the last 7 days. I’m pretty pleased with this one for a phone camera and no filters.
FastTrack Fit Camp is an outdoor fitness business with the focus on improving people on the inside so they feel good on the outside. In 2019 FastTrack Fit Camp became a Social Enterprise and committed to distribute a minimum of 50% of profits back to community environmental projects each year with the goal of helping our local citizens feel good whilst being outside too.
