Clean, Green Fit Camp | 29 August 2019

Our weekly update on all things Social Enterprise related.
Trainers
I have managed to collect 6 complete sacks full of trainers and shoes from strangers, campers and abandoned shoes in and around the area since end of June.
It felt pretty good to know that these shoes wouldn’t hit landfill and would be reused, repurposed or recycled.
It feels even better then that I was able to help a local charity, The Cowshed, with a selection of the better shoes for their Hurst based charity supporting families in the area who are unable to afford clothes or shoes. This is even better for me.
The Social Enterprise was primarily to focus on community issues. The trainers when collected by our charity are generally sent abroad. By using some of them locally we help our fellow residents, keep shoe miles down (it’s a new thing I made up) and help support our local charity.
So I am now down to 4.5 bags to be collected. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far.
Trees
This Saturday I am meeting with Mark the Tree Man who is going to help me inspect the land we’ve been given to plant trees in so we can do a site survey. This is really exciting. We’ll be checking position, soil and drainage and deciding which trees will be most suitable.
Flowers
I’ve been asked if I will sponsor a roundabout in Wokingham.
I’ve asked if I can wild flower bomb it.
I’m still waiting to hear back.
Litter
This year’s 100 Day Fitness Challenge starts 23 September. First announcements will be on 1 September.
Next FitterLitterPicker event is on Sunday 22 September 09.45 at Bearwood Recreation Ground, Winnersh.
Social Enterprise
I’ve been asked to speak at two events next month on the Social Enterprise side of the business. I am chuffed to bits with this and I look forward to sharing what we’re doing at FastTrack Fit Camp with others.
FastTrack Fit Camp is an outdoor fitness business with the focus on improving people on the inside so they feel good on the outside. In 2019 FastTrack Fit Camp became a Social Enterprise and committed to distribute a minimum of 50% of profits back to community environmental projects each year with the goal of helping our local citizens feel good whilst being outside too.
