Sue Davies (60) is a shining example of how you can get something out of a Fit Camp exercise session whatever state of recovery your body is in. Over the past couple of years Sue has had two partial knee replacements and has been able to come back to exercise after her convalescence both times knowing that we can help her with whatever stage she is at in her recovery.
How long have you been coming to Fit Camp?
About 6.5 years
Why did you start coming to Fit Camp?
To get some general fitness. I know I work better with a group of people rather than on my own. So gyms just don’t work for me.
Have you got that from your visits?
Yes and more. My fitness levels have improved and I feel better. This has been very important, whilst convalescing with after my knee operations. After each operation, I have come back to Fit camp, and slowly reintroduced the exercises. This has helped my fitness levels, and the rehabilitation of my knees.
There are still so be exercises that I cannot do, spotty dog! But I am always given an alternative, which helps.
What has attending Fit camp given you that you weren’t expecting?
So many new friends. (Heidi’s note: I LOVE this…we really do have a lovely community)
What’s your favourite exercise at Fit Camp?
The flabby belly exercises! So crunches, genie tucks, planks.
Describe Fit Camp in no more than 3 words!
Edit: After completing this Sue dropped me a voicemail to say that whilst at Fit Camp that morning she’d found herself moaning throughout, not really wanting to be there. In being there she found someone else who needed to moan too – but they both got on with it anyway. At the end they said that if they’d been in a gym they just wouldn’t have made the effort that they had that day. They both felt better for going, doing it anyway and leaving the moaning on the training ground.
