Good Friday with Heidi: Keep up the good work…
This week’s Friday with Heidi comes to you with lots of hope that you will have the weekend you desire.
Many of you will have the 4 days off, and I hope you use them in a way that allows you to skip back to work well rested on Tuesday.
If you are working (me too!) then let’s see where we can benefit from the time somehow. I’ve got some outside fitness time bagged, reading planned, family get togethers and home time all noted in my noggin.
This week I wanted to share with you a method I use for measuring what’s what in my life.
I’ve recently started a 12 month programme of self / personal development. It’s already having a big impact on my thinking and behaviours and I am looking forward to seeing how my year pans out.
However, history shows me that there will be times when I think that my life and I are having a crappy time and need some reminding as to how far things have come.
As such I have me a new notebook (I am sure I mentioned notebooks last week?!) and I am listing everything that I do, think, say and behave differently as a reminder as to what I’ve achieved. It’s a good reminder for not only what you’ve done once, but what’s possible and I am already delighted with how I’ve filled a page already.
This isn’t a gratitude journal or journaling. It’s a list. Let’s not make this complicated.
Get a book. Write down something that you’re pleased you’ve done differently. That’s it.
If you want to get reflective you can. But I am encouraging myself to think less and do more.
A fitness coach I follow says “you only get paid for done” and whilst this may look like it applies to creating / delivering a service in exchange for cash I think it’s more than that.
‘You only get paid for done’ is the transaction of you doing something differently and getting paid in new results / feelings / feedback / experiences that satisfy your goals and outcomes.
What do you want to get paid for? Changing your eating? Exercising with intention? Loving more fully? Being more organised? Saying no more often?
How do you want to get paid? In results? In energy? In fitness? In satisfaction? In progress?
Keeping a list of how I show up differently or do things differently is my very simple process for showing myself how I get paid for done.
You could do it as photos, as voice notes, as drawings…whatever it is, give it a go and see how far you come in the next few weeks and months.
