Friday with Heidi: Life’s lessons…
Most Thursday mornings I start an unconscious process of thinking what I’ll be writing about in Friday with Heidi. It mulls and mumbles around in my head as I pick through the week, consider the themes and conversations I’ve had or consider how something I’ve experienced is relevant to share.
I had a natty little idea first thing on Thursday and went about the rest of my day as normal.
My normal Thursday includes a visit to a massage client who I see weekly. She’s lived with ME for most of her adult life and there are times when life is a bit bleak for her. When I got there yesterday she was quite bundle of energy. Something quite out of the ordinary for her.
She was buzzing to tell me what fun she’d had the night before playing along with Halloween for all the children who knocked at her door.
She’d gone to some lengths to make sure the house looked like they wanted visitors with plastic spiders, severed feet and candles burning in the windows. Every time someone rang the bell she would play along when she opened the door, either telling the ‘spiders’ off for escaping or dismissing her husband as an escaped zombie or being all witchy.
Despite the fact that I can’t give too much time for Halloween, I was riveted listening to all that she did to entertain her sweet-thieves. As I was getting ready to leave she said “It was such fun. I am still buzzing” I could see it, it was palpable.
And then, just as I was stepping out her front door amongst the tiny paper skulls and abandoned Gummi Bears, she said “for the first time in my life I understand what the saying ‘you get out of life what you put into it’ really means. It’s brilliant“.
And at that moment my Friday with Heidi changed. I was so moved by her realisation, that I felt teary for her.
She’s in her mid 50s, had a physically challenging life and then discovers this. Think of all the possibilities for her now!
My question for you this week then is , what are you putting into your life? Because whatever it is it will certainly reflect what you are getting out.
If you’re sat waiting for it to happen you’ll be sat there for a few more days, months, years yet.
It’s time to take your version of Halloween by the shoulders and shake it!
I decided a long time ago to find a silver lining in every problem. Every single time. And it hasn’t let me down yet.
I also decided that if wanted a happy and easy life I was going to make sure that I followed Tony Robbins mantra of “what’s wrong is always available, but so is what’s right“. My life changed the very day I made that decision.
And finally, I realised that I always have a choice. Sometimes the choice takes you down a deeper, darker path, but if you believe that there is always a silver lining then guess what? There will be.
Enjoy your weekend and decide to put something into your life with no expectation of what you’ll get out back. I guarantee you will be rewarded.
This week I have been putting the final touches to a few events coming up next year. Clicking the pictures will take you through to more information.
