Thyroid Awareness Week 2018 | An emotional and spiritual connection to thyroid disease

It’s the last day of the Thyroid Awareness Week and I think I am going to miss my daily input into this very common condition that is still much misunderstood and mistreated by many.
Today I wanted to finish on the why…but not any old why. The why beyond the medical explanation. The why beyond the logical and scientific. The why that delves more into the emotional and spiritual reasons why thyroid conditions appear as they do.
Before you switch away, bear with me.
This isn’t about religion or mediumship but more about the different types of energy that we create in our bodies when we think and feel great as opposed to when we have conflict and disease.
Louise Hay is one of the many thought leaders who spoke openly about the links between mind and body, illness and disease. In her famous little book ‘Heal Your Body’ she lists many physical conditions with a suggested emotion.
In their book ‘The Healing Power of Illness’ Thorwald Dethlefsen and Rudiger Dahlke MD challenge the accepted ideas of what illness really is.
And in ‘The Great Pain Deception’ Steven Ray Ozanich talks of a painful and emotional phase in his life that lasted years and years before coming to the understanding that all pain in the body was a manifestation of unexpressed anger. Once he was able to let that go, and work through his pains, anger and resentment he was able to heal.
So today, I want to touch on what having a thyroid condition can link back to.
If it brings up some anger in you, or denial or high disbelief use that as a seed that’s sown to look further into your emotional past to see if it’s got a bearing on it.
If you can see nothing to link you to the emotion and the cause that’s fine too. Maybe it’s not clear yet or maybe the answer will come to you another way.
Either way, have a quiet little read here and see what comes up for you.
The blog post below beautifully describes the ways in which the thyroid is linked to an ability to communicate (or not), to keep inside what you want to say outside, feeling stifled or by being intuitive but not knowing how to express it.
Even within NLP circles treating the thyroid is related to an inability to speak up. And along with the thyroid condition itself other little tics and tells appear like a cough without a cause, or audible sighing.
Have a read and see what you think.
Given all this, I do still think that we need the other stuff I’ve been talking about all week to bring us back into balance whilst we deal with the emotional stuff too. However one without the other will lead to a longer, more frustrating recovery than if it was approached simultaneously and holistically.
Thank you so much for reading and sharing these posts this week, I really appreciate it and hope that you’re able to take some new action to help yourself help your body to heal.
To your very best of health! ?
