I have a ‘thing’ for people taking ownership.
Even when life is really shitty and I want to find something or someone else to blame when something hasn’t worked out, I know that it always comes back down to me and what I did or didn’t do.
As such personal responsibility is the first of FastTrack Fit Camp’s values.
So this week I have been reminded of this as I’ve helped my mum resolve an outstanding maintenance issue at her flat.
The problem has been going on for 12 months and I intervened two weeks ago to get a resolution as there was too much feet dragging by too many people to get the job done. Since then every person I have spoken with has passed the buck or tried to move the problem on without taking ownership. It’s quite amazing. Even when I’ve suggested that no one person is prepared to take ownership, no one picked it up, despite acknowledging how terrible it all is.
The same applies to your health and fitness.
If you’re not happy with how things are right now then, I’m sorry to say, the buck stops with you.
You may be time challenged, or have people at home who don’t support your food preferences or have a boss who thinks working through lunch is acceptable.
You may believe that you’re not fit enough to join a class or a gym or that saying no to a pudding or wine when asked is rude. But if all these things are stopping you from getting where you want to be and you’re not happy with that, then you need to do something differently.
And only you can make that decision and take the appropriate action.
We always have a choice. A choice about how we react and respond to any event. It’s this reacting and responding that will make or break attaining a goal.
To help get you started I am running an event next month to share with you the four steps to living a happier and healthier life as I launch the start of the #1000WokyWomen challenge. I’d love for you to join me if you can relate to any of the following:
- Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
- No oomph.
- Guilty for being ratty with the husband / partner / children.
- Feel that there’s no time for you.
- Have got lots of clothes, but none that fit you .
- You don’t know what to eat anymore
- The scales are creeping up (I know you still weigh yourself!)
- You just don’t feel like you anymore.
The event is on Wednesday 12 September 19.00 – 21.00 at Wokingham Cricket Club, Wokingham. You can book your place on this link
Please bring a friend. The effect of you working with someone with the same goals is very powerful and one of the points I’ll be sharing with you that night.
I’ll also be sharing with you how you can get involved in the 1000WokyWomen project.
I know it can be frustrating when the realisation drops that we are responsible for what happens to us and how we react to it. But it is worth it.
Whilst pondering this topic this week I came across this video and thought it summed it up beautifully.
I do hope you’ll join me next month.
Have a great Bank Holiday weekend.
Oh! and the work in the flat was completed yesterday. Just 52 weeks after it first being reported!
Don’t wait that long to make a difference for you.
