Friday with Heidi: The Power of One
Do you find that some weeks are weighted more towards one activity than another?
This week I’ve been in networking mode more than normal.
I’ve been attending networking meetings since I worked for my Dad back in 1990’s and never really left them. When I look at clients we’ve helped, opportunities I’ve had and training I’ve been on I can trace most of it back to someone I’ve met through my networking membership or events.
Networking is an extremely powerful way to spread your message across a wide area as each person you meet acts like a sales person for you. I am frequently asked to recommend specialists from my circle of contacts – there is a strong ripple effect in action.
That said, this week I’ve been talking to my networking colleagues about the power of helping just one person.
When we, at FastTrack Fit Camp, help one person, we create a ripple effect that touches more than the person we’ve dealt with.
Lets take a typical example of a woman who comes to us feeling out of sorts, unhappy with her body, confused about what to eat and at the point of thinking that if she can’t lose weight now, she’ll put up with how things are (a typical conversation in my consultation room).
After something like our 6 Week Feel Good Challenge we find:
- She’s happier to walk around in front of her partner without hiding her body.
- She’s less snappy with the children.
- She is less stressed about what to wear each day.
- She sleeps better, has more energy and less bloating.
- She feels stronger, fitter and well… happier.
By being more relaxed and happy around her family the ripple effect starts.
Her partner is happier that she’s happy and leaves the house each day in a better mood, having an easier day at work so much so his colleagues work days are nicer too.
Her children feel calmer and behave better at school so their teachers have better days.
Morning routines become easier when getting dressed is easier so mornings become calmer.
Her own improved sleeping and how she feels about herself ripples out to how she is with her friends, extended family members and work colleagues.
Even if we think that one person feeling better by making improved lifestyle choices can conservatively affect 6 people imagine what the effect is if we can change how 50 people feel, or 100, or 1000?!
I have a goal to help 1000 people in Wokingham to feel better about themselves. If we do that, and we take 6 as the average number of people that will be impacted by the change, then we’ve helped 6000 people.
If I do that across all of the areas that Fit Camp runs sessions then we’ve helped improve the lives of over 48,000 people from impacting just 8,000.
The impact of one person affected is a powerful force. I’d love to help you be part of our campaign.
I’ll be launching officially in September, but until then preparing a new and improved 6 Week Challenge programme based on feedback from my clients who know what we do and offer already.
If you’d like to be one of the people who creates a ripple, please drop me an email, let’s chat and see how we can create a massive impact from one person taking action.
Over in our Metabolic Balance community one of our members has ‘graduated’ from her programme.
Kay came to us in January looking to ‘get herself back’. She was functioning but things weren’t quite right and she was beginning to feel out of sorts with it. Her hands were stiff and achy each morning, her sleep was poor and she was struggling to lose weight and keep it off.
Since then she’s followed the plan, kept to two sessions a week at our Winnersh Fit Camp and maintained her weight loss.
Some 22lbs lighter with 15 of those pounds coming from body fat, she said ‘I feel like myself again’. The hands are getting better, the sleeping has improved and she’s delighted that her body has worked out what weight and shape to be and she’s managing it.
She said ‘my physical perception of myself now matches my mental one’ – I love that! No more discombobulated thinking.
If you’d like to talk about what Metabolic Balance combined with Fit Camp can do for you please drop me a line for a no obligation chat.

This Sunday we’re hosting a Family Friendly Fit Camp for the parents of Evendons School who are raising money for Alzheimer’s Society. They are walking the Thames Path in September and we’re helping them along the way with some fund raising Fit Camp. All are welcome so please join us on Sunday at 9am at Bearwood Recreation Ground, Winnersh with a mat (or something to lie on) a pair of old gloves and a bottle of water. The fitness class is 45 minutes long and your donation will help them to reach their target for their walk in the Autumn.
