Friday with Heidi: Hello, welcome and welcome back
I’m flying solo this week.
Mr Strickers has gone on a little trip to see his family in Canada and, for the first time in 27 years of being together I am in our house, on my own.
No kids, no husband, just little old me. It’s been a nice change!
This is not the Friday with Heidi I prepared, wrote, laid out, put links in and got ready to send. For some reason I decided to write it on Wednesday in it’s entirety. When I went back to read it on Thursday it was a bit ranty.
Well, quite ranty really and so I decided that it was best relegated to the blog-posts-to-be-revisited-in-the-future. I put it down to a shortage of sleep over the past 3 weeks or so catching up with me!
I keep waking up at about 02.30 feeling ready for the day. This is not ideal. For a start no one else is ready then and secondly even I won’t go out walking or exercising at 02.30.
I Googled ‘why do I wake up at 02.30?‘, knowing that there are Chinese medicine theories around it.
As you can imagine I had a tonne of hits, some were useful, some downright daft, but the best one said “A ghost is watching you“. Excellent, now I keep waking up hoping I’ll see him to say ‘hello, now can you please pop off and let me sleep‘
Last week we said ‘hello‘ to the sun.
What a glorious return that’s been. It’s long overdue and even though it’s not so evident this week what we have seen at Fit Camp is an uptake in people coming along for a trial or coming back as members.
When I ask them what their reason is for getting in touch it’s been around the weather motivating the change.
‘My shorts don’t fit as well as last year’
‘My summer stuff seems to have shrunk’
‘I refuse to buy new clothes’
At FastTrack Fit Camp we know that the best way to prepare for this is to be taking action all year around. But for some people that’s just not possible or their life takes over (who hasn’t had that?!) So we have an open door policy to anyone who has been with us before to come back where they left off. We have welcomed back several clients this week who’ve had a little sabbatical.
One of them emailed me to say:
We’ve also welcomed brand newbies to our community and I wish them the best of health and progress.
Getting in shape for summer is much easier if you look at it as keeping healthy for life, however if the winter kept you wrapped up in your onesie drinking tea and eating biscuits and your exercise has been limited for a few months it’s time to get your game face on! We offer a trial week to anyone wanting to see if what we do suits them. There is absolutely no commitment.
Once you’ve done that we normally recommend our 6 Week Feel Good Challenge as a way to build regular activity into a healthier lifestyle.
Seven weeks of regular exercise with some simple lifestyle changes will definitely leave you feeling better, fitter and more energised. Nearly all of our clients say to me “I just feel so much better“.
What’s not to like?!

Unless you’ve been in a cave you’ll have noticed that there’s been something of another welcome this week.
Kate’s third baby arrival this week has hit the headlines from several angles.
There’s been the “Poor woman, she’s just had a baby and is in heels and coiffed 6 hours later, give her a break” to “Is this the role model that all women are supposed to aspire to after a baby” to “Leave the woman alone, she’s DOING HER JOB“… all of them very vehement in their attacks on the other.
Whatever your views on the Royal family, the third (currently nameless) baby or news commentators lurking at the bottom of the internet (love that term from Dave Gorman!) It has provided us with something a little more positive to look at in the news. It’s like a puppy or kitten video, it’s infectious.
I am sure Kate has this all sorted out, but if she needs someone to help her get back into her dresses for public duties she can always pop along to our Baby Bootcamp in Winnersh each week. Once she’s had that 6 week check she can drop by, chat with instructor Vicki and the other mums and, even bring George and Charlotte along to to work out with her like Lena does.
Any mum wanting to give us a try can come and do a trial week too to see if it suits before committing. Our Mum’s memberships are a little different as the maternity period is different for all ladies, so we let you come on a monthly basis. No contract, no creche fees, no need to wear matching gear.

We’re delighted this week to have been nominated in the 2018 Muddy Stilettos Awards for Berkshire. These are annual awards arranged by the popular blog recognising local independent businesses. It’s public nominated and voted and our team have been given a nod in the Fitness Instructor category.
In this first phase it’s all about the first five past the post. So we’d love it if you would consider giving the whole team a nomination so that we can go through to the final in May. All you need to do is click here -> https://berkshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/vote/fitness-instructor/ and whilst you’re there vote for a few other businesses too.
The girls work hard for me looking after the campers and so this is definitely a team effort!
This Sunday 29 April it’s our Family Charity Fit Camp for Bowel Cancer UK.
We meet at the Bearwood Recreation Ground, Winnersh RG41 5DU for a 09:00 start. It’s family friendly and lasts 45 minutes. All you need to bring with you is a mat or something to lie on, a pair of old gloves and some water. All monies go to charity. If you are able to come see if you can find something PURPLE to wear too, it’s the charity’s colour and will make for a great photo!

Finally, if you’re still with me, here’s the link to my ongoing health overhaul. Spoiler alert, I found out I was a bit weird this week!
