Friday with Heidi: Theme your 2018
Is it still within a reasonable time-frame to wish you a Happy New Year?!
I hope so. I really do wish you a happy new year.
If you read the Friday with Heidi last week it was about writing your Ta-Da list and recognising what you’d achieved in 2017 before you looked with trepidation at 2018.
I know that some of you did that and I hope you picked out the highlights of a year that was, for many, a very mixed bag.
This week I’ve been preparing for our New Year event tomorrow. I love this event, it’s a great way to focus on what you do want to achieve and work towards in the months ahead. It’s been well received, we have over 100 people registered and I am looking forward to helping them with some clarity and ideas for 2018.
However I know that some people feel like they’re not goal-focused people. That they don’t set out to get-stuff-done and are happy to go with the flow of life.
So I thought I’d offer an alternative approach to ‘the bigger picture’ as a different way to view this new year after reading an article from someone I follow on social media.
Rather than making goals, plans or resolutions. How about a theme or a motto for your year?
How about you had a little phrase that you wanted your year to be remembered by?
What if your year was seasoned with all things ‘travel‘ or ‘best health‘ or ‘be braver‘ or maybe even ‘do less‘?
How would your year pan out if your theme was encompassing your decisions around what you did?
The author of the post I read suggested you find you own hashtag for 2018.
So what’s your theme for the year going to be?

Mine is ‘fearless‘.
Not in an aggressive, dog eat dog kind of way.
But more in that I want to be the person that takes chances, takes risks and is a role model for the people that I come into contact with. There’s no point me encouraging others to be the best version of themselves if I don’t do it for me.
So, let’s see where that takes me this year…
