This year Mr Fit Camp and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary.
Last November I thought it would be nice to make a special holiday of it and over our anniversary date in September we headed off to Sweden for a unique wildlife safari. It was lovely.
Whilst organising this holiday some months in advance I had a little thought: ‘why wait until then?‘
We decided that on the 25th of each month this year we’d go out and do something to celebrate. It didn’t matter if it was a week day or a weekend we’d do something that meant we’d do something outside of normal. I christened it our Anniversidate.
We’re almost there!
We’re ten dates down and have so far been as organised as spending a day in Brighton to much less organised time to walking along the river to Sonning. There have been a few meals, the holiday in Sweden, bowling and the cinema.
On each date we’ve had, I have made – let’s call it forced – the hubster to do a selfie with me. For no other reason than in 25 years of marriage I have about 6 photos of him and me together. That’s what being married to a photographer does for you! So now I have a little selection of selfies for each month and with that comes the memory of where we were and what we did.
I feel accomplished!
So why wait for something that could be worked on now?
Whilst waiting for the weekend, how can you put some fun into your week?
Whilst waiting to travel when you retire how can you arrange for day trips to a beach or city each month or quarter?
Whilst waiting to get in shape after the holidays, after Christmas or after the weekend with the girls – why can’t you start small today?
Whilst waiting to sign up to learn something new, go and do something you used to do as a child that might be just as fun?
Let me know what you are going to do whilst you are waiting for something big to happen!
This Sunday we are hosting our monthly Family Charity Fit Camp for Simon Richards from our Twyford camp. He’s in South Africa now and about to start work on building a nursery there. The charity is Purple Aid and, no surprises here, but if you have a purple tee-shirt please wear it! We start at 9am at Bearwood Recreation Ground, Winnersh RG41 5DU. We’d love to see you!
On Wednesday 8 November I am hosting a ‘Metabolic Balance | What’s it all about?‘ event at the Wokingham Cricket Club. There are about 10 places left if you’d like to come along and hear about the fabulous health and weight loss results we’re having so far and how my blood test results changed over the 22 week period of me being on the plan.
You can book your place here: https://metabolicbalancenovember.eventbrite.co.uk
And now I am going to head off and work out how we manage an Anniversidate on 25 December!
Have a great week.
