Metabolic Balance® | Training in Croydon

I’ve been a course over the last few days that has been both interesting and exciting.
It’s called Metabolic Balance® and is a scientifically proven programme that is both simple to follow and individually focused. It was designed and developed by a German doctor called Dr Wolf Funfack over 15 years ago following his earlier work with nutritional medicine. He had a goal of designing a programme that promotes a healthy metabolism, by reducing inflammation, managing weight and promoting good health.
The programme is available through qualified consultants (like I am now) and is a minimum of 12 weeks in duration. Each person goes through a process to establish that they are a good candidate for the programme. The first 2 weeks and 2 days are the most important phases and this is when strict adherence to the guidelines is important. If you are someone who likes to break rules and find your own way, this isn’t going to be the best plan for you.
Lifelong results can be achieved with this whereby the client, when they reach their goal, can modify the programme to a more 80/20 balance to keep adherence for longer.
The programme is developed from a blood sample that you need to have taken and sent off to a lab in London. Within a day or so the results are sent back to the consultant and they can then request the nutrition plan. Certain requests can be considered, like a vegetarian programme or a gluten free programme, so there are ways it can be even more personalised to suit you, although it’s recommended that you don’t over complicate things as clients have found that as they regain their health their tastes change too.
The nutrition plan takes about a day or so to come back and from there you have your full programme with food stuffs you can choose from, volume of water to drink, and quantities.
Your reason for completing the programme will help dictate things like quantities and food stuffs. If you want to lose weight, you select your goal weight and a plan is devised accordingly. You can look to gain weight or manage weight but improve health – the goals are up to you and your consultant.
The process is ordinarily several appointments with your Metabolic coach over the 12 weeks to check progress and adherence.
Whilst the programme is primarily aimed at 1-2-1 appointments I am looking to introduce it as a group programme so that the group accountability and successes spur each other on.
I’ll be running my own guinea pig programme on myself over the next few weeks to see what results I get.
Check this link for the guinea pig day one update.
The course was run at the venue TMRW in Croydon, a quirky place perfect for such an event. The food was fabulous 🙂
