This week has flown.
Not just a bit quicker than normal, but since my breakfast ramblings in London last week to today it’s been a blur or meetings, training, calls, meet ups, 1-2-1s with some Fit Camp sessions thrown in for good measure.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed for the next stage of the Venus Women in Business Awards yesterday. I was invited to the University of Reading for an informal chat with two of their representatives as they are the sponsoring the award I am up for. They are in the process of whittling five of us down to three — we’ll be told next Thursday at an announcement event who goes through. It’s good timing as I can let you know how I did next week!
Whilst we were chatting it came up about some of my core values and what I stand for and we spoke for a bit about my value around ‘no fuss, no frills’.
I can’t be doing with faffing or frilly edges, flowery talk or fussy plans. I am quite a practical head and fancy-pants anything just turns me off a bit.
And it made me think of the conversations I’ve had this week with people who are doing really well with their weight loss, energy levels, mood management all because they’ve taken it back to basics, started simply and then kept on going.
It really is that simple. We don’t need to make this complicated.
You can scour Facebook and the Internet for the next quick fix, but if it’s complicated chances are you won’t keep it up. It won’t be easy and you won’t see results.
Let’s cut it right back to the fuss free, frill-less basics like:
- Drink more water – boring I know, but it works, every-single-time.
- Eat smaller portions – if you’re eating a healthy diet and not losing weight you may be eating too much. Eat smaller amounts at each meal.
- Get more sleep – I know I keep going on about this, but guess what? People don’t.
- Be active five days out of seven. Walk, mooch, garden, swim, Fit Camp (!), cycle, jog…
- Fill your plate with plants – veggies and salads. You know you’re eating enough plants when you go out to eat and moan that they don’t serve enough (welcome to my world!)
Do this for ONE week and you will feel significantly better.
Do it for TWO weeks and you’ll feel pretty damn good.
Keep it up for longer and you’ll bounce through the day, every day.
If you haven’t got the results you dream of yet, look at why. Have you over complicated it? Have you tried to do too much too soon? Or have you fallen into the trap of researching so much that you think you’re doing something different but in actuality nothing has changed at all?
Have a great week! Keep it fuss free 🙂
