Friday with Heidi: What made me squeal this week!
Friday again and what a week! I’ve been beavering away on behind the scenes stuff at Fit Camp this week.
- Paying in charity monies for the events we’ve run.
- Writing emails for new people joining us.
- Meeting with clients to talk over life and it’s challenges.
- Inviting myself to networking meetings.
- Writing my book (obvs!)
- Stalking an author of a book I loved.
- Making you all a v-logoem (video-blog-poem, it’s a very niche term!)
The stalking came about as an accident. I read a FABULOUS book last year that changed my life. It’s called Profit First by Mike Michalowicz and it’s been fundamentally amazing for how I run my business, so much so that I am running a free workshop on how to implement his strategies into any business next week (It’s here if you’re interested.)
To prep for the event next week I looked him up on on Facebook to see if he shared information I could use and noticed in his ‘About’ box that he lived in the very same town I lived in when I was an au-pair in America in 1988.
This town is small, it’s not on a main route and to see that HE LIVED THERE…sent me off on a series of odd-ball/fan behaviour. (I did feel a bit like the scene when Will Ferrell says “Santa! I KNOW HIM” in Elf.)
I emailed him. I had to tell him that not only had he rocked my world with his book but I probably knew where he lived! Weird I know, but he needed to know!
I sent it on Saturday afternoon UK time and thought not much more of it.
Imagine, just imagine the squeal that went up when I got not just an email, but a video reply to me, from him, two hours later. Epic!
To say this made my weekend is a bit of an understatement. 🙂
It made me think how the smallest of things can have a huge impact.
I thought of how people tell me that they love the feeling they get from coming to camp because it’s more friendly and supportive than the gym. I remembered how we have a lot of new friendships because of Fit Camp and I was reminded that campers have told me that they have made life long friends through FastTrack that they value deeply.
So in a creative moment, and because it’s Valentine’s Day soon AND because we want you to have a bit of it too. I made you a little v-logoem.
If you’re not currently with us, or on a held membership and want to bring a buddy or partner or colleague to camp to see what it is we do and why we love it so – please do.
Start anytime between 14 – 28 February for a two week trial. Bring a mate and get socks and chocs as a thank you (it’s not just Dads that need socks!). Sign them up and get entered into a draw for a bottle of bubbles.
Send either Nia or me an email (admin@fasttrack-fitcamp.co.uk
I’ve got a fun weekend planned that closes this whole circle…
On Sunday I am meeting up with the people I worked for as an au-pair in New Jersey back in 1988 as they’re here in the UK. They are great friends and I am so pleased to still be in touch with them.
I wonder if they know Mike…?!
Have a good one and hope we can send you some socks soon.
