Friday with Heidi: Can you give it an extra 1%?

How to be making progress when you feel at a stand still
How’s your week?
Mine’s been up and down a bit this week. It’s like I’ve not found my stride and been struggling against the tide somewhat.
Yesterday it peaked and I was being completely useless so had to go and do something else.
I took myself to Wokingham, ran a few errands and then plonked myself in Tesco for a coffee and a think.
I do like to sit and think. Not talk. Not read. Just think.
And I used it to untangle the ball of string that was wrapping my thoughts up and came back to a saying I use on myself a lot.
Just do 1% more.
When I do 1% more things change for the better.
Applying 1% more effort on something that needs improving is the best start you can give it.
If you are already doing something — add 1% to it.
If you aren’t doing anything towards this now, choose how to apply an extra 1% and do it.
Does it need to be time? Effort? Value? Money spent? Money earned?
I decided I needed to increase my time working on a project (not just thinking about it) by 1%.
Given I wasn’t doing anything on it, only thinking about it. I’m applying +1% of a day into it — 14 minutes.
Yep that’s really all it is. 14 minutes is 1% of your 24 hour day.
Just imagine what putting another 1% work into your biggest problem right now would do in the two weeks up to Christmas, if you did it every day.
I know — crazy eh?!
So what are you going to do? Just choose one thing and 1 percent it!
Have a great weekend – and if you feel so inclined to spend 12.5% of Saturday 7 January with me to set your intentions and goals for 2017 – please secure your free place on this link https://hyy2017.eventbrite.co.
It’s my favourite event I run. We have people who come back year after year to get some clarity and thinking time to lay out what they’d like to achieve in the coming months. Given that the months are going to pass anyway, I find it’s nice to have a plan around them!
Next week I’ll share our Christmas timetable with you. It may appeal to those of you who have time off in between Christmas and New Year and want to keep active or try something new.
