Friday with Heidi: Food is not the problem…

I’m not sure if there is something happening with the moon this week but I’ve had a roller-coaster week of emotions and revelations.
Have you ever found that just when you think you’ve got your head straight and life seems a little smoother ahead of you – BAM! something comes up either in life to derail you or you have an epiphany that changes how you view yourself.
That’s been my week!
I want to share with you one concept that, if you are on a hamster wheel of dieting/not dieting, may well resonate with you and I want to release you from the guilt and shame and bad juj-ju you shower yourself in every time you step on the scales or try your jeans on – and I know this to be true because people are always telling me that’s what they do.
Here’s the thing… Food isn’t your problem.
You are not stupid or incompetent when it comes to managing you diet.
You are not a bad person.
You aren’t past all help when it comes to getting this straight.
However until you can find out why you’ve made food the answer to your problem it will continue.
I’ve been talking to people for the past 7 years about diets and health and well-being through Fit Camp. But in actuality I’ve been on this path forever. Listening to people, finding out what really makes them tick and helping them forge a new, happier path.
Next time you get into an aimless food hunt — take a breath and ask yourself these questions.
“How do I feel?”
“Why do I feel like this?”
“How else do I feel?”
“Why do I feel like that?”
“What am I really looking for?” (really…and I don’t mean rather have crisps than biscuits!)
When you really answer these questions and get to the bottom of why 6 Jammie Dodgers seems to be the answer you’ll be on your way to fixing the bigger, deeper problem and Jammie Dodgers won’t even appear on your radar.
Really 🙂
I’ve done a lot of this work on me this week.
Soul searching, pattern matching and realisations — you cry a lot, but it is liberating!
I’ll be using this when I talk at our Let Us Make 2017 Our Happiest Year Yet event on Saturday 7 January. Seats are free and are already going, so if you want to come along and test your mettle on a new approach to YOU and making YOU happy I’d encourage you to click the link and book your place.
It’s also not too late to get involved with our 7th Birthday Celebration. If you are currently not with us and want to give us a go, you can try us out for 2 weeks in November. All you need to do is email Alison at admin@fasttrack-fitcamp.co.uk and we’ll get you started.
If you are currently with us and you want to bring a friend, please let us know — we’ll reward you with a thank you gift and get your friend in camp quicker than you can say Spiderman Crawl!
Whatever the moon is up to this week, whatever your brain is telling you, have a great week — do something that makes you happy and let me know what it is that you’d stop everything to do.
I’m off to get outside. That’s my favourite thing. Quick, easy and damn effective!
To your good health and happiness.
