RHM Blog: Day 55 – 59

Monday 9 March – Tuesday 10 March
There’s not a lot of running go on this week. I am away visiting my mother in law and it’s going to be a tricky business. There is snow on the ground, black ice on the pavements and it’s a bit too risky with the half marathon just weeks away.
Wednesday 11 March
Decided to use the gym in the facilities she lives in and ran on the treadmill.
All I can say is that I am glad I don’t have to run the half on it. What a boring, hot and boring, (did I say boring?) experience that was.
I was instantly sweaty, couldn’t help but clock watch and had to keep tricking myself into not looking at the clock. I stated off by saying, ‘oh just do 30 minutes’. Then I tricked myself into thinking I’d make it a round 3 miles, then a round 35, 40 and finally got to 45 minutes before I’d had enough.
I had two of the residents in the gym with me at the time. Both of them in their late 80s doing their morning workout (what great role models they are for aging well) but the word has already gone around the home that ‘ I am a fast runner and gave that treadmill something to think about’ 🙂 I really didn’t, but it’s nice to know that I’ve still got it as far as the sprightly 80s are concerned.
Thursday 12 March – Friday 13 March
Not much happening on the run front. Hope to get one more in before we leave.
