RHM Blog: Day 18
Wednesday 28 January
Two mile walk and listen done this morning. I was expecting to feel stiff around the shoulder and arms after the press ups, but feel good so far.
Achilles tendon is a little graunchy today but nothing unusual, but have new, surprising knee jip which I am going to think better. I don’t need it, it doesn’t need me and that’s that 🙂
Left going out for a run until it was dark as I am much happier running like that. It was quite chilly this evening but I layered, put my music on and headed out.
I am behind on Karen’s plan so I chose to do the essential run she encourages us to do. This was a 6 mile run at a slow steady pace.
Now, I’ve not run that far for a very long time (months and months) so chose to set Endomondo to a distance goal so I could do an out and back run. Do you know how long 3 miles is?!! I kept thinking ‘am I nearly there yet?’, not because I was tired, but because it felt so far away! Turning around at Loch Fynne was a relief. It’s a long way home in the car let alone on your legs. It did cross my mind that running this far and then the same again for a half marathon might be a tad boring. I’ll need to make sure I am entertained, especially as my phone started to moan about low battery before the half way mark and I willed it to hang on for as long as I kept on running.
My times were pretty slow and steady tonight, not my fastest, or most able. But I ran for the whole 6 miles (woo!), my phone lasted to the second I got to the 6 mile mark (thank you!) and job done as far as training goes this week.
I got home, did my 20 press ups (I do ache now) and stretched before getting showered. One thing I have noticed on cold runs is that I get a chapped belly. I guess the combination of sweat and cold is a bad mix, it always itches very much once I get in. I do love the cold, but won’t be sorry to see that disappear.
Group run with Karen and the butterflies tomorrow. I think we’re up for 90 minutes running … oh good grief!
