Diksha’s mountainous challenge

“My aim was to get fit to scale Ben Nevis in 12 weeks’. I injured my right knee in 2012 and the consultant had warned me that I would need a knee replacement in 5yrs time; he also advised me not towalk on the treadmill, such was the poor state of my poor knee. To be honest, I used this as an excuse and became lazy – my knees were constantly bothering me and I was definitely not fit for purpose. But I was getting itchy feet so decided to go public with my idea of scaling UK’s highest mountain. Ellie Barnes of www.barnesfitness.co.uk who helped me climb Mt Snowdon in 2012, suggested I join Heidi’s FastTrack fit camp. To begin with it was agony but as the weeks went by, I began to feel stronger. The girls were great fun and Karen, the local Suzanne Charlton, was absolutely hilarious – she has got the technique of distraction down to a fine art… and Heidi, well, she loves what she does and makes everybody feel great…but be warned! She works you hard!!!!
It was only when I had climbed this big brute of a mountain and hadn’t heard a peep from my right knee that I realised what an amazing transformation had taken place: all the screaming squats and the laborious lunges had left their mark – I was fit for purpose.
Thank you Heidi and Karen for enabling me to undertake this challenge – couldn’t have done it without you.”
