As I was grunting my way through some press ups at Winnersh camp this morning, I heard Karen inform us that it was “95 sleeps until Christmas”… this got me thinking that in which case it was very soon the start of the 100 Day Fitness Challenge for 2015.
For those of you new to FastTrack Fit Camp this may be a new idea to you, but for the fourth year running we’ll be raising money and improving our own fitness as we count down to the year end.
The idea is that for the last 100 days of the year you do something active every day for 30 minutes and donate some money to the charity we support.
The exercise can be anything over and above what you’d normally do. So if you walk your dog every day already, you’d need to add something else in (a jog with the dog?!)
If some days of the week however you are sat in your office and move barely a muscle, then a 30 minute lunchtime walk is a perfect addition.
We support a local charity supporting children in Kenya who benefit from schooling, lunch programmes and sporting opportunities. It’s a good mix for what we do at Fit Camp and last year we raised enough money to help two children be schooled for five years each.
From this Sunday, until the end of the year, all monies raised at the Sunday Wake Up session at 9am in Winnersh are donated directly to the 100 Day Fitness Challenge charity.
Over the years I’ve moved between a specific challenge of my own from 100 burpees a day for 100 days, to 5km run every day for 100 days, to last year ‘just do something each day’ (wasn’t as successful that one!).
This year I will be either participating in a Fit Camp near you, or running 5km or completing 100 burpees in a day. That’s my commitment to you and from Wednesday I shall be starting at Winnersh camp.
So, are you in? Do you want to see if you can do something active every day for 100 days – including Christmas day?!
If you want to be part of it and be part of holding others accountable each day then join us in the Facebook Group.
Start date: Wednesday 23 September
Finish date: Thursday 31 December
Action: 30 minutes exercise every day
Goal: Raise enough money to send two more Kenyan children through school.
See you in camp or pounding the streets or burpeeing my legs off!
